Packing your RUX 70L for a cold water surfing adventure requires some additional planning to ensure you have all the gear you need to stay warm and safe in the water. Here are some tips to help you pack your RUX 70L for a cold water surf trip:
Start with your wetsuit:
Your wetsuit is likely the most crucial piece of gear for a cold water surf trip. For the West Coast of Canada in the fall/winter/spring months, we recommend a hooded 5/4mm suit. Top performers include the Rip Curl Dawn Patrol or the Xcel Infiniti. For the summer months, or trips further south down the coast, our friends at Nagi make unreal wetsuits from premium Japanese neoprene. We like to store our wetsuit in a Waterproof Bag in the 70L. That way once its wet, you have a perfect solution for separating your wet and dry gear in your 70L.
Keep those fingers and toes warm:
In addition to your wetsuit, you'll need other accessories like booties & gloves alongside your wetsuit in the Waterproof Bag.
Bring extra layers:
Cold water surf trips require plenty of warm layers to keep you comfortable and safe. Pack a warm jacket, fleece, and wool socks. You can use the compression straps on your RUX 70L to reduce the bulk of your gear!
Protect your board:
A surfboard won’t quite fit in your RUX 70L… but make sure to pack it securely in a padded bag like the Dakine Daylight to protect it during transport.
Don't forget the essentials:
Pack any essential items like a first-aid kit, board wax, sunscreen, water bottle, and snacks in an easily accessible RUX Pocket.
Plan for wet gear:
The RUX Waterproof Bag is the perfect post-surf bag. The Waterproof Bag clips onto the outside of your RUX 70L or tucks in the 70L nicely to keep your wet and dry gear separate!
By following these tips, you can pack your RUX 70L efficiently for a cold water surf trip, ensuring you have all the gear you need to stay warm, safe, and comfortable in the water.
